Two great nations, Kenya and Britain

I am in Nairobi Kenya ministering at the annual conference of Faith Evangelistic Ministries. Evangelist Teresia Wairimu founded the ministry after being touched by the Holy Spirit at a Reinhard Bonnke Fire Conference over twenty years ago.
It was interesting coming to Kenya just after the riots we experienced in the UK. When I left London last week the talk in the Media was about the need for some kind of moral and social reformation in the nation. Here in Kenya the topic being discussed among church leaders and politicians is exactly the same ? how can we establish godly principles in society.
?I firmly believe that a society that is true to Christian principles will prosper and its people will be blessed. However there is a danger in this. Moral principles, peace and prosperity are vitally important but they are never enough. The greatest need is for Righteousness.
?Righteousness as revealed in the Scriptures is not human in the making. Upholding moral principles is a good thing, but it does not go far enough. We need more than a moral or social revolution. We need the salvation of God.
??Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people? (Proverbs 14:34)
?Being right with God is the greatest need of any person. We have been created in the image of God and for the glory of God. The problem is that we all have fallen short of God?s glory. Even moral people have sin in their lives and unless that sin is dealt with they will never be right with God.
?The good news is that God has acted to solve this most basic of human problems. In the gospel of Jesus Christ, a righteousness from God has been revealed. Jesus died for the sins of the world. He carried our sin on the cross so that we could receive his righteousness as a free gift.
?In other words we are declared righteous by faith, just as Paul says in Romans Chapter 1:16-17 – The gospel is the ?power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes? for in it the righteousness of God is revealed?. And so, ?the just shall live by faith?.
?Once we are founded on the Righteousness of God we can construct a life of genuine love to God and love to our neighbour. This is the only solid foundation for our lives as individuals and as a society.
